How 5 big companies are harnessing the power of GPT-4

OpenAI’s GP-3.5 and GPT-4 models have given companies from a diverse range of industries reason to consider generative AI’s role in their business.

With applications from creative ideation to AI customer assistance and fraud detection, GPT is helping companies and consumers find new opportunities to grow, optimize tasks, and help find solutions faster.

Keep reading to discover five major companies that are harnessing the power of generative AI to help their business succeed.

What is GPT-3.5 and GPT-4?

Short for Generative Pretrained Transformer, GPT-3.5 and the newly released GPT-4 are both large language models created by AI research lab OpenAI. While GPT-4 possesses about 10 times the computing ability of its predecessor, both models utilize deep learning to produce human-like text.

1. Canva’s Magic Write AI Text Generator

Graphic design platform Canva’s Magic Write tool features the power of generative AI in full force.

To use Magic Write, users can input short written prompts to brainstorm their creative ideas. The resulting content uses GPT-4 to perfectly match the style and tone of the original input. With the tool, brainstorming is made easier, allowing users to access a wealth of creative ideas in a matter of seconds.

Overall, the feature is allowing users to maximize both their creativity and Canva’s design capabilities.

2. Conversational Generative AI Features with Duolingo Max

Duolingo Max is a paid subscription feature bolstered by impressive generative AI. With Duolingo Max, users gain access to Explain My Answer and Roleplay – two AI-powered features that are helping learners deepen their knowledge and optimize their learning.

With Explain My Answer, users can learn more in the lesson about why their response may have been right or wrong. They can gain deeper insight through a chat with Duo, where they may ask for clarification, examples, and discuss the lesson as if talking to a human tutor.

Roleplay, on the other hand, helps users improve their conversational skills with characters on the app. Learners can practice their skills in different in-game scenarios–ordering coffee or discussing holiday plans, for example. Because of GPT-4, no two conversations are exactly the same, allowing for constant organic interaction.

3. Product Descriptions with Shopify Magic

Shopify’s latest generative AI addition is offered in the form of an AI shopping assistant on their app, Shop.

Through a chat interface, customers can write a prompt to the AI assistant. Results include tailored suggestions based on the initial inspiration. From there, customers may choose to refine their search, look for similar products, and even piece together a set of related purchases – like finding matching furniture to fill a home.

Aside from the shopping assistant, Shopify is also leveraging generative AI for merchants with Shopify Magic, a tool that produces high-quality product descriptions to increase product sales and overall visibility.

4. ChatGPT for Slack

Salesforce and OpenAI recently announced the ChatGPT for Slack feature.

The app integrates ChatGPT’s powerful AI technology to deliver instant conversation summaries, research tools, and writing assistance directly in Slack to help millions of companies work more productively.

According to Slack, the new feature allows users to:

  • Get up to speed faster on channels or threads: AI-powered conversation summaries help users quickly catch up on what’s happening.
  • Instantly find answers on any project or topic: with AI-powered research tools, users can learn and build expertise faster right from Slack — whether they’re researching best practices, prospecting a new account, and more.
  • Draft messages in seconds to communicate with customers and teams: with AI-powered writing assistance, users can spend less time crafting replies, status updates, and meeting notes — and more time putting the plan in action.

5. Stripe’s AI Fraud Detection

Finance platform Stripe has begun to use GPT-4 to analyze posts in Stripe community forums on platforms such as Discord.

While these forums are primarily used to help crowdsource solutions to unique problems, they are vulnerable to fraudulent behaviour. By posing as community members, actors may try to obtain critical information from the community. Using syntax analysis, GPT-4 can help protect users by flagging posts for Stripe’s fraud team.

While fraud detection has been a major component of Stripe’s GPT-4 adoption that’s not all: you can expect 15 applications of GPT-4 to be up and running soon, with a focus on better understanding the businesses of Stripe customers and providing support for questions about documentation.
